On one fun evening at an event called MängudeÖÖ October 25 , 2014, I was showing off some Virtual Reality demos on development hardware called Oculus Rift DK2. There were also other people showing off their own developments with the hardware. One of my friends also came to this event as a visitor and we were amazed by all the developers and enthusiasts who were tinkering with VR. It was clear that the Estonian VR scene needs a proper home.
This was when me and my friend Madis decided to pull all the VR people together and create an Estonian community for VR called EEVR.

We put together a website www.eevr.ee, formed a Facebook Group and started to plan our first meetup event.
On November 28. 2014 First ever EEVR I Meetup in Tallinn took place. There was a great mixture of people from 3D artists, game devs and engineers to general enthusiasts. All in all, about 15 people attended

On February 7, 2015 Second Meetup in Tartu With three presentations, 30 people and a room full of different hardware and software demos.
So on we were alternating between Tartu and Tallinn and had a bimonthly Meetup events
In 2019 we decided to hand the EEVR to people who were more involved with VR and they formed a non-profit for EEVR named Estonian Virtual and Augmented Reality Association.
Between 2014 and 2019 we organized 24 meetup, events 2 virtual meetups and trips to other VR communities abroad (e.g. Finland and Sweden) and currently the Facebook group has around 1400 members as of 2022 and is growing.
